Questions Frequently Asked by Interested Students.

  • General Questions
Is CDACT Accredited?

Yes, in 2015, CDACT underwent a rigorous auditing process and was granted the status of Approved Training Centre by the Grenada National Training Agency (GNTA) to award Caribbean and National Vocational Qualifications (CVQs/NVQs). Currently, CDACT is making preparations to gain Short Course Accreditation from the Grenada National Accreditation Board (GNAB).

What is a CVQ/NVQ?

According to the National Training Agency of Trinidad and Tobago (2008), “The Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) is a CARICOM approved award that represents achievement of a set of competencies which define core work practices of an occupational area, consistent with the levels articulated within the regional qualifications framework.” Further, according to the Grenada National Training Agency (2018), “for occupational areas where CVQ standards (Regional Occupational Standards) are not yet available, the NTA develops/adopts National Occupational Standards which are used in training and certification. Persons certified using these standards are awarded National Vocational Qualifications.”

How long do courses take to complete?

Short courses can take up to 12 weeks or less for completion however, CVQs/NVQs are competency-based, which means that the candidate learns at his/her own pace. Normally, a level 3 CVQ, for example, can take approximately 9 months to complete once the candidate is deemed “competent” in all areas of assessment.

What happens if I cannot make it to class on a regular basis?

The sessions’ lesson(s) will be emailed for individual review; however, the candidate will still be expected to meet assignment deadlines.

When is payment due?

Fees are due at the start of each programme; however, at CDACT; we understand the constraints some persons may have when it comes to balancing household and other financial commitments. Therefore, candidates have the option to apply for a payment plan, which would allow payments to be made on a monthly basis.

What happens if I do not complete the entire programme?

Candidates who are not fully able to complete and/or pass all assessments for a given CVQ/NVQ will be given unit certification, with the option for special tutoring to gain full certification where applicable. For short courses, the award received may vary.

Does CDACT offer any refund(s) if I cannot complete a course?

Unfortunately, refunds will not be offered at this time; however, individual circumstances may vary.

Can I sign up for more than one course?

Yes, once the courses are not scheduled for the same time and do not clash, candidates are allowed to sign up for as many courses as they like.

Does CDACT have a graduation?

Yes, upon successful completion of the requirements for a course(s), an award/presentation ceremony will be held to hand over certificates to candidates.
